Every morning, we are given another chance to redefine and rewrite the parts of our story we are not happy with. We must never lose sight of that.
That is why every day is our day.
When we think about success, so often our focus turns to money and material things. For many people, success seems to mean glamour, wealth and fame. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying those things. Personally, I love watching people with wealth flaunting it – which is probably why I enjoy watching to The Real Housewives!
But I believe every person needs to define success for themselves.
Otherwise, we can spend our lives waiting for the day when we finally become “successful”, instead of recognising how much success already exists in our lives.
Perhaps success is also found in the things we have survived.
We face unwelcome changes and unexpected challenges. We endure disappointments, broken hearts and moments we never thought we would get through. We cry, we process what has happened and somehow, eventually, we move forward.
Every time.
Life looks different for each of us. Some people may have wealth to show for their success. Others have scars.
Both tell a story.
Success comes in many shapes and forms, and whatever form it takes in your life, I believe it deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated.
One of the things I appreciate most about life is our ability to reinvent ourselves.
We can choose the path we want to walk. We can decide who we want to become and how we want to live.
During difficult times, we can remain afraid or begin searching for the courage to move forward.
We can allow our failures to define and limit us, or we can appreciate everything we have already done and still be willing to take another chance.
We have that choice.
We can keep telling ourselves that perhaps one day we will become successful, or we can begin to recognise the success that already exists in our lives.
It is our choice.
It is our definition.
I don’t know how you are feeling this morning, but I want to remind you that you may already be far more successful than you give yourself credit for.
You are here.
You have survived days you thought you wouldn’t.
You are still learning, still growing and still being given opportunities to write another page.
And if you are alive this morning and able to read this post on amaserwaa.com, well… I think that is worth celebrating too.
Now go on with your successful self and have a successful day!
Thank you for reading.
