Many of life’s challenges can discourage us, especially when they are completely outside our control. But I have learnt that some of the most painful seasons of life can also teach us something about our own strength – strength we may not have known was there.
What once caused us pain can, with time, become wisdom.
We may not have the power to control everything that happens to us, but we can learn how to respond to what happens. We can choose not to let every difficulty have the final say over how we live.
Sometimes uncomfortable seasons reveal parts of us that comfort never could. They stretch us. They make us look again at gifts and abilities we may have allowed to lie dormant. They remind us that there is often more in us than we realised.
You may be stronger than the struggle in front of you.
And sometimes you have to stop giving so much attention to the voices, including your own, that continually tell you why you cannot move forward.
Encourage yourself.
Every morning, rekindle your faith with truth.
Remember that God gives comfort and strength to those who trust in Him. Trust His everlasting grace. Trust His never, ending love. Trust His faithfulness, even when you cannot yet see how the situation will unfold.
You do not have to understand everything today.
You just have to keep believing, keep moving and keep reminding yourself that God is able to work even the difficult parts of your story for good.
Sometimes encouraging yourself is simply saying:
I am still here.
God is still faithful.
And I will keep going.
You are never alone.
